Dear Mr. Galofaro,
Since news broke of the Martin Foundation's historic gift to TAC, you may have already received notes from Catholic-school fundraisers like me, and I am aware that the Foundation does not accept unsolicited requests. I am not writing with a grant request, but rather for your perspective on a mission-aligned investment opportunity.
The Summit Academy, which is a classical Catholic school in the diocese of Arlington, VA, is planning to break ground on a permanent campus this summer, which will enable Fall 2027 occupancy and space for nearly doubled enrollment (120 to 230) from its rented facilities. This is the community's first major campaign, and we've raised more than half of an $8M first-phase goal against a $10M construction cost.
Here's our site: https://thesummitva.org/campaign/. You may notice that the campus is designed by Nicolas Charbonneau, who is Anthony Grumbine's DC-based colleague at Harrison Design.
The first phase is shovel-ready (rezoning, permits, design), aside from financing. We are trying to meet the timeline by securing $5M in financing through revenue bonds or Program Related Investment (PRI) loans while ensuring that financing is mission-aligned. I'm looking for the right investor — a foundation or family that would value a secured instrument supporting Catholic education.
Would you have 15 minutes for a call? I'd be grateful for your insights into this strategy and any introductions you may be able to make for this purpose.
Best,
Nick

Hi Nicholas,
Appreciate the email. Our foundation would not be in a position to make an investment of this nature. I wish you luck on finding the right investor for this project.
Best,
Rich

Dear Rich –– Thanks for your reply and good wishes for the project.
Robert, it's nice to be connected. I see you're a Leonine alum; I was part of the DC group a few years ago and my wife was in the first NYC cohort. A great program!
