Dear Bill,
Thank you for your response, and congratulations on the Cristo Rey school. It's a really good education and formation model, and $32 million raised in three years is a remarkable achievement. I can appreciate the priority that project has taken.
Coincidentally, I could benefit from advice that, based on your ongoing campaign for Cristo Rey, you may be well positioned to offer. An opportunity has very recently materialized for The Summit involving a transaction worth roughly a third of our campaign goal with a board member's family trust. It's new territory for our board with some structural complexity with which we don't have a lot of experience. I would welcome advice from you or anyone from your foundation who has navigated something similar. Let me know if you're open to a phone call, or who might be the right person to speak with.
Best,
Nick

Thanks Nick and congratulations on your work with Summit Academy.
Our family foundation has taken the financial lead in developing a Cristo Rey high school here in Orlando. We have raised $32 million over the past 3 years and now are winding up an $8 million campaign for a new gymnasium and health clinic. So, unfortunately, we are not in a position to support your school at this time.
Blessings to you for your work and best of luck!

Dear Mr. Orosz,
It was a real privilege to be a Tocqueville Fellow from 2016 to 2020, and my wife was one of the program's first fellows from 2012 to 2016. I'm very grateful to you and Professor Muñoz — no program or professor had a more formative influence on either of us. I write with that gratitude in mind, and a request.
What drew me to Notre Dame was its ranking, not its Catholicism. I was fortunate to find my way back into the Church thanks in large part to Philip, the program, and the joyful Catholics it attracts. I've wanted to give back through education so other young men and women could experience the same deep conversion of heart. In 2023, we moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia and got involved in The Summit Academy, a ten-year-old classical Catholic school. It's exactly the sort of school I would've built to replicate my experience in the Tocqueville Program and instill lasting Catholic formation.
Now I serve as The Summit's first executive director. My office is a small closet in a rented Baptist church and the school has been operating near capacity for several years. To address that, we're building a permanent campus (see attached). We've raised more than half of our first-phase $8M goal with 100% board participation and several 7-figure solicitations pending.
So, the request: I know your family has invested deeply in Catholic formation, and I'd love the chance to share more about what Summit is doing and the good that the campus will bring to Catholics here. If that conversation interests you, I'd want to explore how you might engage—whether as a donor through your family foundation, or as a lender through a friendly loan to help us break ground this summer and complete construction for the 27-28 school year.
I don't make this request lightly. I imagine that you're often approached with opportunities like this, and I understand that people naturally prioritize supporting K-12 schools in their own region. But if you're open to a conversation, I'm happy to travel for a meeting and can work around your schedule.
Many thanks for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Nick
